Enterprise Development
Uttarakhand is a developing State with
immense potential for development in
core areas at grass root level. The State
government has set up `Help Groups' for
educated unemployed youth in areas like
technical consultancy, tourism, IT related
activities, construction etc with possible
assistance from the Government.
Protection of environment and the
maintenance of the ecological balance is
being accorded top most priority. Special
emphasis is being given to the
development of entrepreneurship in the
State with a focus on developing
entrepreneurship among women,
scheduled castes and tribes, unemployed
youth and other weaker sections of the
society. Special emphasis will be paid to

The unfolding decades of last century and
dawn of new millennium has seen the
emergence of Indian woman. Woman
has taken up a various new roles of
bread earner, professional, scientist,
engineer, technocrat, educationist etc.,.
However, this awareness has to get
deeper in the roots of society. A number of
opportunities need to be created in rural
India, particularly in the States like
Uttarakhand. There is need for greater
dissemination of information about
various schemes that have been
introduced for empowerment of women,
particularly for saving of girl child,
development of children and creation of
infrastructure for better health services for
women and children. This segment of
exhibition provides information about the

Education is an integral part of social
development programme. The
e d u c a t i o n a l i n f r a s t r u c t u r e o f
Uttrankhand needs a major revamping.
Though Uttarakhand's state capital
Dehradun is known the world over for its
top class educational institutions where
various renowned personalities got their
education, there is immense potential to
develop primary and secondary level
educational institutions in various remote
parts of the State. In the field of higher
education, the State Government
endeavours to develop and build on the
existing and inherent strengths of the
institutions to develop at one college in
each district as a centre of excellence and
generally upgrade the standards in each
college. There is also great demand for
IT enabled course material and e-libraries
can also be developed which
would supplement for the shortage of
teachers, particularly in remote areas.
