  Handloom And Handicraft  
 
The State of Uttarakhand has been a cultural cauldron which has been enriched over centuries. Various ethnic styles have been evolved here which are adored all over the world for their elegance and richness. There are several handicraft industries in Uttarakhand like carpets, weaving, wood carving, brassware and copper based industries. These environment friendly handlooms are known for their aesthetic appeal and multi-utility aspect and have emerged as perennial favourites. Handloom section also exhibit the best quality tie & dye block prints, woven designs, plains, mirror and appliqué work, diverse embroideries etc., on handloom fabrics. These are then widely used for furnishings, house hold products, decorative and utility articles, besides their regular use in clothing and fashion accessories. It also provides multi-dimensional growth prospects for various production houses, cooperatives and exporting units and reflects FEP's resolve to contribute effective towards preservation and exposition of traditional Indian arts and crafts. This exhibition will provide an exclusive opportunity to craftsmen of Uttarakhand to showcase their finest collection and enable them to interact with various buying houses from India and abroad. It will also help in establishing linkages for sourcing of raw material and other products used in manufacturing of these masterpieces. Some such industries which will display their products will include paper and paper products, plywood/flush boards, furniture, wood carvings, sports goods, toys, educational aids (in particulars pencils), matchsticks, katha, bamboo-based products, etc.
